Literature in the Classroom

Reading is a critical topic for all students. It is something that all students have to learn how to do and something they will use for the rest of their lives. It is up to us (teachers or future teachers) to make reading exciting and make students want to learn and be good at it. If a teacher is not passionate about teaching reading or does not make it fun to learn, then their students are going to struggle in the future.

One way I hope to get the students enthusiastic about reading is surrounding them with a tone of books and literature. I believe that if I have a large classroom library with a variety of book topics and reading levels then the students do not have an excuse not to read. I want to meet every need of every student. If they have books with subjects that they like, then they will want to pick the book up and read it! With this expectations, I am going to need my parents help to supply some books. It is not a requirement, but if you feel the need or want to donate books- that would be greatly appreciated!

I also want to make reading fun for the students. Just reading a book in monotone will not get that drive in the student's lives. I have been well educated with numerous ways to make reading exciting for the students. I plan to read to them every day with charisma and character. I also plan to get the students involved by letting them reenact the stories and role play. Future strategies involved storytelling and videos or tapes of books!

These are just a few expectations I have for the upcoming year in Reading and Language Arts. I hope you all are ready to jump on the band wagon and join in with the fun. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me!

Welcome to Miss Kendall's Third Grade Classroom

I am so excited about the upcoming year. Another year, new students, and many more adventures through the curriculum. I have a lot of new ideas and ways to implement the upcoming curriculum and standards in the classroom. It might seem challenging at times, but assure you that I have great ideas to incorporate the new standards while still letting the students have fun.
